Before I brought you the Breakfast of Champions. But every champion must fight for a king. And of course every king has to have breakfast! So here it is, the Breakfast of Kings!
French Toast and Crispy Bacon.
Can you sense the trend of the crispy bacon yet?
I make this for me and my housemate at least once a week. It always sets us up right for the day. It is damn tasty, easy, quick and pretty healthy. Making french toast is one of those the skills that people will love you for for your entire life
4 slices of thick cut bread
salt and pepper
Bacon (your own prefared cut)
Honey or syrup
-Crank up the grill to its highest setting and lay out the bacon on your grill tray.
-Break your eggs into a bowl along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Make sure its a wide bowl, big enough to fit one of the slices of bread laying down in it.
-With a fork, whisk up the eggs until they are smooth.
-Get a heavy based frying pan on to a med/high heat.
-Soak two slices of bread in the beaten egg for about 30 secs. Flip em over and give them another 30 secs.
-Add a bit of olive oil onto the pan and place the eggy bread down gently.
-Cook the bread for about 2 minutes each side. The bread should feel a bit more stiff, this will tell you that the egg in the centre is cooked. No-one likes soggy french toast.
-Check the bacon. Crispy? Take it out. Not crispy? Leave it the fuck in!
-Repeat the process with the other two pieces of bread and then as soon as your bacon is done you are ready to serve.
-Two slices of french toast on each plate. Few slices of bacon on each and a bit of honey over the top and you are good to go.
