The Ginger Jack

Ginger Jack

So my good friend Jack came to me with a challenge the other day. He wanted me to give him a hand with a job application for Jameson Whiskey. So we did what we do best. Started drinkin’ and eatin’.

We talked about what we wanted to achieve and came up with this beautifully light, summery, zingy cocktail that transports you straight to a sunny afternoon BBQ. Which is exactly what we need on these darkening days. Its very easy to make, and dangerously more-ish so approach with caution.

1/2 a thumb of ginger

2 lemon wedges

1 measure of sugar syrup

1 measure of Jameson Whiskey

Ice

Soda Water to top up

-Peel the ginger and using a micro plane (one of the finer edges on a box grater will do fine) grate the ginger. On the clean side you will get a beautifully moist ginger paste and on top you will have all the stringy root bit. Spoon the ginger paste into a high ball glass.

-Add the lemon edges and sugar syrup and muddle them in the bottom of the glass.

-Fill the glass with ice and add the whiskey.

-Top up with soda water, give it a good stir and serve with two straws and a sizzle stick. Garnish with a slice of ginger.

Enjoy,.. carefully.
